﴿١﴾
I swear by the Day of Resurrection!
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
﴿٢﴾
And I swear by the self-critical soul!
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
﴿٣﴾
Does man suppose that We will not put together his bones [at resurrection]?
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
﴿٤﴾
Yes indeed, We are able to [re]shape [even] his fingertips!
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
﴿٥﴾
Indeed, man desires to go on living viciously.
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
﴿٦﴾
He asks, `When will be this “day of resurrection”?! `
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
﴿٧﴾
But when the eyes are dazzled,
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
﴿٨﴾
The moon is eclipsed,
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
﴿٩﴾
And the sun and the moon are brought together,
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
That day man will say, `Where is the escape [from this day]? `
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
No indeed! There will be no refuge!
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
That day the [final] goal will be toward your Lord.
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
That day man will be informed about what [works] he had sent ahead [to the scene of judgement] and [the legacy that he had] left behind.
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed, man is a witness to himself,
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
Though he should offer excuses [to justify his failings].
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
Do not move your tongue with it to hasten it.
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
Indeed it is up to Us to put it together and to recite it.
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
And when We have recited it, follow its recitation.
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
Then, its exposition [also] lies with Us.
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
No! Indeed, you love this transitory life
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
And forsake the Hereafter.
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
Some faces will be fresh on that day,
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
Looking to their Lord,
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
And some faces will be scowling on that day,
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
Knowing that they will be dealt out a punishment breaking the spine.
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
No indeed! When it reaches up to the collar bones
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
And it is said, `Who will take him up? `
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
And he knows that it is the [time of] parting,
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
And each shank clasps the other shank,
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
That day he shall be driven toward your Lord.
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
He neither confirmed [the messages of Allah], nor did he pray,
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
But denied [them] and turned away,
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
And went back swaggering to his family.
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
So, woe to you! Woe to you!
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
Again, woe to you! Woe to you!
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
Does man suppose that he has been abandoned to futility?
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
Was he not a drop of emitted semen,
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
And then a clinging mass? Whereat He created and proportioned [him],
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
And made of him the two sexes, male and female.
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
Is not [someone like] that able to revive the dead?
— Translation — Ali Quli Qarai
